Tis The Season – For Winning?

It’s that time of year when the sights, sounds, and smells of Christmas permeate our lives. Sure, it’s CyberMonday today, and that means lots of great online deals, but I’m not going to make this just another CyberMonday deals post. Instead of showing you how to spend money today, I’m going to tell you about a way to win some money instead.

Because I own Christmas Corner, I was asked to judge a Christmas-related contest. As one of the official judges, I wanted to make sure to let my visitors know about the contest. It is described as the Coolest Christmas Pictures Contest. The idea is that you submit your coolest Christmas photos and how-to tips. You can win a cool prize and get the chance to showcase your holiday creativity and passion on the coolest Christmas website for others to enjoy and learn from.

So turn CyberMonday into a day for entering a contest for a chance to win some money instead of spending it. There are always cool contests online so take some time to find others that you can enter as well. I’ve won several contests over the years, including some that offered cash or prizes worth several hundred dollars. Make today the day you enter the one I’m judging, and as many other contests as you find online that look interesting to you.

While you’re rummaging around the net for contests to enter, stop by my Christmas site and see if anything strikes your fancy. Grab some Christmas wallpaper for your desktop (Melvin Moose is the star of this year’s wallpaper), personalize a children’s Christmas story, written by me, to print out and read to your little one (your kid is the star of the story), or download some Christmas printables that I made. It’s all free, so enjoy without spending a dime.

I recently helped my partner start a new local business and in the process, I needed to order business cards. I wish I’d been lucky enough to enter a contest to win them, but that didn’t happen. It CAN HAPPEN FOR YOU however!

Six people will be chosen randomly by me to receive 500 premium business cards from Uprinting. All you have to do to win is click a share button on the Online Product Ideas infographic post. Just under the title of that post (not this one), are two buttons. One says Tweet and the other says Like. Click either of those, and then comment below to let me know you’ve done so. I’m not going to require proof of your tweet or your Facebook Like because I trust each of you to not cheat. I do need you to comment afterwards ON THIS POST, however, so that if you win, I can send your winning info to Uprinting so they can give you your prize.

Blog Commenting, Contests, and Reach, Oh My!

I’ve been noticing all the hubbub lately for the FamousBloggers ComLuv contest, but I’ve been so busy that I hadn’t had a chance to really check it out until a week or so ago. Once I did, I realized that this was a great opportunity for me to share my thoughts on blog commenting in a contest that’s all about blog commenting! What’s great about blogging in this situation is that my thoughts will go out beyond my normal inner circle of readers, and expanding reach is the goal of every blogger. So I decided to enter this contest for several reasons: 1) The prizes rock! , 2) It’s time I start really participating in both the FamousBloggers network and the ComLuv network, and 3) I really wanted to share my thoughts on blog commenting.

Think Your Idea Is Worth 10000 Dollars? It Could Be!

Several months ago, over on my SEO Scoop blog, I wrote about a cool site, Ideablob, that gives away $10,000 every month to someone who has an idea that others like. Ideablob is like a social network for people with ideas. And like any good social network, people vote on those ideas. Sounds familiar, right? Think Digg for ideas. But the kicker is that the person with most popular idea each month wins $10,000 to help implement that idea! Woot!

The monthly giveaway was only supposed to last a few months if I remember correctly, but it looks as though they’ve extended it through at least the end of September. (Who knows, maybe it will get extended again?). In any case, if you’ve been cooking up a hare-brained idea in your head, now might be a good time to take you and all your social network buddies over to Ideablob and get in on the action! Actually, even if you don’t have an idea to submit, it’s kind of a cool place to hang out now and then just to ignite some creative sparks in that clever brain of yours.

What is ScratchBack?

I’m intrigued. Jim Kukral, a man I have a lot of respect for, has a new site that he’ll be launching any moment now called ScratchBack.com. There’s no information about what it will be, but he does show a really funny video of a dog scratching his back. Now, knowing Jim, that’s just a marketing technique to get our attention, and of course, as with most things Jim does, it’s a technique that works. Another successful technique that he uses is to hold a contest, and the contest he is holding is really good! Hosting for life on a Rackspace private server is a biggie. The beta launch of Scratchback is happening in August, and since August is nearly over, it should be launching really soon. So if you want in on the contest, get to it right away.

I first heard about ScratchBack on WebmasterRadio and of course, Jim keeps the mystery going by not giving any real details. But Jim is all about FUN (his position is CFO – Chief Fun Officer), so it’s bound to be fun, and in fact, Jim promises that it will be both fun and profitable. I can’t possibly knock either of those things!

One of the goals of this blog is to enable others to work from home, in their pajamas of course, and be able to enjoy life more. Trudging to an office job every day is quite often NOT FUN, but working from home, even when you’re working hard, is usually very fun. And that’s how I believe it should be. Jim Kukral feels the same way. For that reason, and because I love the dog video on the site, I’m itching (like that pun?) to see what ScratchBack is going to be all about. Should definitely be interesting, and it might give us all some good ideas.

Dying to win this role

I’m simply dying to win a role on CSI as a dead body. I love, love, love CSI and they are holding a simple contest. Register to win and you could play a dead body on a future CSI episode. How cool is that? How do you enter? It’s simple. Watch for the doll icon with a phone number during the next episode (you’ve already missed two, but there’s one more to go). Then either call that number, or just go to www.miniaturekiller.com (which is the easier way to do it, imo). Register and wait for your name to be called as the winner. But of course, you’ll be waiting a long time, because I’M going to win! LOL.
