You know by now that I’ve entered the FamousBloggers Comluv contest. What you may not know is that I have a sweet spot for the whole CommentLuv concept. And no, it’s not for any SEO value. Forget about SEO for a minute. Forget about dofollow and nofollow. (BTW, CommentLuv DOESN’T turn your comment links into dofollow links, although many people who use the CommentLuv plugin often ALSO use a dofollow plugin).
Nope, I don’t give a rat’s patooty about getting SEO value out of a comment. I do, however, care about learning more about the people who take the time to make interesting comments. And THAT’S the total awesomeness about the CommentLuv plugin, in my opinion. Being able to see the title of the latest post written by someone who made a comment on my blog (or any other blog), and then being able to easily click through to read that commenter’s post – well, that’s just genius.
Let’s take a specific example, shall we?
My contest entry is 5 Steps To Impressing A Longtime Jaded Blogger With Your Comments. The first 10 people who made a comment and who had their latest blog post listed via the CommentLuv plugin enabled me to check out their blog posts, and get to know those people a little better. These are the blog posts I read, and I would possibly have never known about these posts if I hadn’t seen them listed in the comments they wrote. How cool is that?

An Interesting Guest Post Analysis on FamousBloggers
Look, the people who made the comments didn’t have to spam. They didn’t have to do any work at all in order to get their latest post listed within the comment. The CommentLuv plugin automatically grabbed it and listed it. As long as you’ve registered your blog’s URL sometime in the past, it’ll always get recognized when commenting on a blog that uses the plugin.
As far as I’m concerned, this is the ultimate CONNECTION between bloggers and users. Getting to know one another by reading each other’s posts and sharing thoughts about each. That’s priceless stuff, folks.
CommentLuv plugin makes these connections work better. I <3 it.
I think ComLuv is a great idea. It encourages more people to leave relevant comments without having to resort to spamming their links in somehow.

Not so formidable I don’t think. Sure, I can probably manage to be in the middle of the pack somewhere, but you and a few others have hit it out of the park! Good job and best of luck.

Hey Donna! Thanks so much for the mention!
I <3 comluv too for those very reasons.. I really don't care too much about the SEO juice.. it's just so darn helpful when you leave a comment somewhere it links to the title of your blog post..because the title is what entices folks to click in the first place.
And if you leave a great comment that strikes a chord.. and then have an enticing title behind it.. then the chances of someone clicking through to check you out are increased substantially! So yeah.. I <3 comluv too!

In this age of online communities, we have so very little with which to first get a feel for people. We just see a name or a photo, so if we can get to know someone just a little better, by being offered a link to their latest post, I’m all for it.

Hi DD, It was nice to be one of the first to comment on your entry to the FBCLcontest. When I heard that you entered, I made it my goal to wait for the post to be published and when I saw your tweet I rushed over to read the post. You do have some stiff competition but I’m sure you’ll do well. I’m following the other comments by email and it’s amazing how much they’ve added to the conversation. This contest has certainly done what it set out to accomplish and it’s no wonder with Hesham, Andy and Gail spearheading the whole thing. It’s been a blast!
Thanks for the BloggerLuv Link!

That’s the real key to this contest – it’s been a great eye-opener. Even when we know that a conversation is important, being able to see it in action in this way, really helps bring home the point. And definitely… Hesham, Andy, and Gail have put in an incredible amount of time and energy on the project. Kudos to them.

Hi Donna! I, too, have discovered so many interesting blogs thanks to CommentLuv. I think it does give you a sort of feel for who the person is by seeing what they write about.
I, of course, read your contest entry last week..however I ironically stumbled on over here this evening from another blog’s comments section thanks to CommentLuv.

If it hadnt been for commentluv, I wouldnt stumble on a lot of people’s blogs learning a lot of new things.
I’m late at reading about this comluv contest. Competition must be really stiff

same with cindy, through commentluv i have searched a lot of blogs that are very informative and useful. that’s why i love commentluv!
I love commentluv. It gives both the blogger and the visitor link juices like some sort of a give and take relationship. It allows the visitor to post their recent blogs on their comment. A very good point for a blogger to have it on their blogs.
