Oh Stop Being Such A FussyPants

Stop Being Such a FussyPants

I don’t really know what a fussypants might be, but in my mind, you could substitute “stick in the mud”, “fuddy duddy”, or just “all work and no play” if that helps define what I mean.

Sometimes, even on a serious blog, you can lighten up and have a little fun. Life, even our business lives, allows for some serious smiles and even the occasional raucous laughter. Don’t forget to let your personality shine through once in a while.

Today, I’m not going to be a fussypants. Today, I’m going to share with you my INCREDIBLE NEWS.

I’ve won an award! Woot! Here it is.

I know you’re jealous, but hey, I deserve it! After all, I begged for it, and what better way to get an award than to simply beg, right? Thanks goes to Holly Jahangiri of It’s All A Matter Of Perspective for honoring me with such an outstanding award. :)

If you insist on seeing me beg, you can see the conversation that took place in the 8 Ways To Get More Blog Comments post. You’ll have to scroll all the way down to the bottom because my comment was the first one (comments are shown newest to oldest). See where I say:

Oh Oh Oh! Can I be the top common tater? Puhleeze!

You really have to be old enough to remember Welcome Back, Kotter (a goofy TV series in the US in the late 70′s) to get the full impact of my begging. I was imitating Arnold Horshack. Here’s a soundbite of Horshack to help really “visualize” (audiolize?) it.

So, there you have it. You too can stop being a fussypants. You can let go a little on your oh-so-serious blog now and then. Maybe, if you beg, you can even get your own Top Common Tater award. Unfortunately, you’ll never ever get to be the VERY FIRST RECIPIENT of the Top Common Tater award – because that honor belongs to me! Booyah!

Oh, Donna, I couldn’t have picked a more fun first recipient – after all, you helped me to know what a Top Common Tater needed (a cilantro wreath, not a crown – and a radish to munch on, not a scepter).

The Horshack imitation didn’t hurt, any, either. ;)

Donna, congrats on your Top Comment tator award. That’s great. I was so glad to see you blog to “let your personality shine through every once in a while….” because I do that on Twitter and its like you’d think I was interrupting a Condominium Board Meeting; or I was about to get thrown out of the “Book of the Month Club”!! No responses; I almost ran a tweet that said, “Testing for pulses”; but thought better of it..hee hee. I know how you won that award; you’re smart enough to separate “who” you are, from “What” you do….great distinction; one of the secrets in life.

HA! Can you imagine people are actually fussypants on TWITTER??? I mean, really, Twitter? Give me a break. You can always feel free to interrupt me on Twitter with a pulse test. :D

See? Side benefit – I get to discover cool new people who have both a pulse AND a sense of humor! I love it. Nice to meet you, Eric.

(I don’t LIVE on Twitter, so if you’re using it to check my pulse, DM me. I probably miss about half the good stuff on there, but those go to my phone. Unless someone abuses the privilege.)

I read a few blogs today, and checked my tweets… Emory retweeted your post with ‘hehehe’ comment, so I thought this must have nothing to do with social media or blogging at all… and I’m right lol… nice to meet you Donna, youre a funny, witty lady.. and congrats on your award :)

Congrats, Donna! I might have missed this for a day or two, had Alan not Tweeted the news. Like others, I think your willingness to “let your cilantro down” and show some of your personality, rather than just a persona, adds quality to your blogs and comments.
Let this be a lesson to you…. be careful what you ask for. ;)

    Donna,

I knew there was some reason I liked you — the same twisted humor and the shared memory of Welcome Back, Kotter! Congratulations.

Holly, nice to know you remedy deficiencies in the lives of others besides myself. Remember, we are only five hours apart by truck.

    Congratulations on the award!

Remember when that “Thinking Bloggers Award” was happening? That was a really good meme – people waxed eloquent about a variety of blogs, and weren’t afraid to give testimonials and actual reviews of content.

I don’t remember that particular meme, Ashok, but I do fondly recall the days of yesteryear (3 years ago? LOL) when blogs were simple and fun and passing along a meme was just a normal bloggy thing to do. Those days also saw us doing lots of link roundups of others’ posts we enjoyed that week, and plenty of fun (though often ugly) sidebar widgets that served little purpose, but we didn’t care, now did we? Now, our little blogs have grown beyond that joyous toddler stage and we forget to have fun, let loose, share freely, and link happily. Some of that needs to return (perhaps without all the ugly sidebar mess). :)

Hey, congratulations. I was drawn by the title of this post – fussypants! Sounds like a very English sort of phrase, like, “don’t get your knickers in a twist fussypants”. I always thought of fussypants as really being someone that just sorts of worries about stuff too much.

    Anyway, well done.

One thing – when was this? Just noticed that there are no dates on your blog or comments. Clever – keeps stuff alive I guess. Hope I am not several years late to the party!

Just read your “What I could have done with $900″ post. I’ve spent so much money on my dogs for various illnesses. We always get the dropoffs, and of course, they always show up with the “big problems”. But every one of them has been worth it. I’d rather not have to shell out the money, don’t get me wrong, but I wouldn’t trade my dogs for the money. They are just little luvs. I know yours is too. :)
