What I suggest for home, car and office is some 12 hour light sticks. For the car and office I would suggest a good pair of shoes, preferably a good pair of hiking shoes with thick soles and good support. For the ladies in the car or at the office a pair of denim jeans to change into.

If your car breaks down you can use the light sticks to flag down help or to tape onto your car to keep it from being hit. They will provide plenty of light to get out of an office building if the power goes out.

How timely this advice is, especially with another hurricane heading toward the gulf. :(

I bought a couple of those really big plastic storage bins at the local dollar store. One holds all the food and water, and one holds the non-food items. If we have to evacuate, we can just throw them in the truck and take them with us, all packed and ready to go. Until needed, they stay closed and sealed (with packing tape), so we don't have to worry about using them up. Obviously, at some point, we'll have to replace old items, but until then, everything is stored and stockpiled with no worries. :)

As a resident of the gulf coast I can agree with your list. But part of the problem is storage or dedication to keeping the stockpile stocked.
