2 Dozen Blog Networks Actively Seeking Bloggers

Below is a list of two dozen blog networks that have contact information specifically for bloggers wishing to apply to write for the network. Some of these are paid positions, while others are not. If you are looking to make money from home, getting paid by blog networks to blog for them can be one way to do so. However, even the networks that don’t pay can contribute to your business in other ways, such as enabling you to create an online presence and grow your audience. This lends considerable credibility to any other monetized ventures you undertake.

There are pros and cons to joining a blog network, and Problogger has done a great job of covering those already, so I won’t repeat… Continue reading

Knowing How Much You Need

As you know, I believe that having diverse income streams is key to being successful with your goals of making a living online. Very soon, I’ll be listing lots of ways to earn money, but today I want to make sure you know how much income you actually need to make, in order to make a living. That figure will be different for everyone. Factors such as where you live and what the standard cost of living is there, how deeply in debt you are, and how many people depend upon your income are just a few of things that makes everyone’s circumstances different.

Knowing how much effort it will take to make $2000/month vs. what it would take to make $6000/month is an important consideration when… Continue reading

Injecting Passion and Compassion Into Your Business

Every time I turn around, I see another blog post stating that you need to be passionate about your topic in order to succeed with it. I do agree that passion is very important, but it needs to be balanced with compassion as well.

Some definitions of passion include:
Intense, driving, or overmastering feeling or conviction;
Ardent affection;
A strong liking or desire for or devotion to some activity, object, or concept

A definition of compassion is:
Sympathetic consciousness of others’ distress together with a desire to alleviate it

When we impart information via the Internet, we shouldn’t be merely spewing information that we are passionate about. We should have valid reasons for sharing that information. Those reasons should include the fact that we recognize that others may need this information… Continue reading

Turn Off The Greed, Turn On The Common Sense

greed common senseMy family loves to tell people that I am smart but have no common sense. They find that amusing for some reason. In some areas (like putting things together) I’d agree with them, but when it comes to my business, I fully disagree. (I can see my family shaking their heads, but pay no attention to them).

I use common sense in my business constantly, and I highly recommend that you do the same. It’s easy in this fast-paced world of Internet Marketing to get caught up in the “make lots of money online now, now, now” atmosphere. But any time you come across a self-proclaimed guru wanting to sell you this line of er, um, “hooey”, take… Continue reading

Crazy George vs. DazzlinDonna : A Look At Sales Methods

act nowEver seen one of those television commercials for an electronics store, where someone named Crazy George (or any similar name) is sitting in a crane high above the store parking lot, throwing electronics on the ground, smashing them to bits, all the while screaming loudly about the great prices to be found at his store? Or maybe you can better relate to the used car television ads where Crazy George yells loudly about all the great used car deals he’s got going?

Whichever type of ad you can envision, you know I’m talking about the loud, “in your face” sales pitch. The concept is that if I scream loud enough, often enough, and look crazy enough, I’ll get your attention. And once I… Continue reading

Research Others In Your Space

My first thought was to title this, “Research Your Competition”, but I decided that sounded all wrong. If you recall, back in Part 5 of the How To Make A Living In Your Pajamas series, I said:

The only thing missing now is an actual web site. In the old days, that would have meant hiring a designer and spending lots of money and time developing a nice-looking site. Those days, luckily, are gone. You can have a site up and running very quickly. You’re going to do this by installing a free WordPress blog.

Just in case you didn’t get the significance of that, it means you became a blogger when you installed WordPress. And just in case that doesn’t mean anything to you, it means that you… Continue reading

Your Business Is You

I was reading my horoscope today and it had some words of wisdom that can apply to you and your business of making a living online. It said:

There are many ways to connect with others, but the most effective method is the one that puts you in the most comfortable frame of mind. You need to feel relaxed in order to make other people feel that way. So if you don’t like noisy, crowded bars, don’t go to them! You’ll only feel anxious the entire time — not to mention the fact that you’ll meet people who like what you don’t like. Where you go and what you do is an extension of your personality.

While I agree with that premise completely when it comes to life in general, I… Continue reading

Establish Trust With Your Readers

trustTrust is an essential component if you hope to make a living online. There are certainly people who can make money without having the trust of their users, but I definitely DO NOT recommend ignoring the importance of trust.

It is vital, in my opinion, that you prove yourself worthy of being listened to. If you are recommending a product, especially an affiliate product, your readers need to feel that they aren’t being sold down the river. The best way to prove your trustworthiness is to recommend only products that you truly believe in - time and time again.

If you’ve actually used a product and know first-hand that it has worth, then you can easily convey that knowledge to others. When… Continue reading
