Solar Power for Blog Action Day

solar powerToday is Blog Action Day and bloggers from across the globe are blogging about environmental issues. The posts can be about absolutely anything related to the environment, so I’m focusing my efforts today on discussing solar energy. I am by no means an expert in either green living or solar energy, but I’ve been fascinated with the idea of utilizing solar energy for decades now. Unfortunately, I have yet to purchase a home that came already designed to be powered via solar panels, and it’s not exactly cheap to switch over.

There are people working to make it cheaper for us to be able to power our homes, or at least partially power our homes. According to ScienceDaily

We just had the Live Earth concert series happen around the world. Global warming and climate changes are in the news and being discussed on talk shows round the clock. We keep being told that even the smallest things, if undertaken by enough people, could help immensely. I have no doubt that there’s a lot I could personally do, but I have to admit that I’m not up to speed on what those things might be. In fact, the only thing I can think of off the top of my head is to go out and buy those new-fangled light bulbs. See, I can’t even think of the name of them right now, but you know the kind I mean.
