Meet Me At WordCamp in Birmingham, AL

I’m really excited that the Southeast United States is getting its first WordCamp ever! Woohoo! I’ll be speaking on SEO for WordPress there, so it would be just kickin’ if I could get to meet some of you there. It’s going to be held September 27-28, 2008 (yep, like 3 weeks away). The cost is only $25, so it’s well worth it! There will be lots more info posted on the official blog soon, but you can get the first bits of info there now. That blog will be updating pretty rapidly over the next couple of days so check it out now and then.

You can register here, and I’ll remind everyone about it later, in case some of you forget. I’d really, really, really love to get to meet some of you, so I’m hoping lots of you will go. :D

You don't have to choose one of these, of course, but based on what I usually write about, there's a good chance any of my posts will fall into one of these categories.

  1. And I really, really, really want to go! I just don’t know if I can work out all the details! Wah!

    I’m trying, though! :)

  2. You know I’ll really pout if you don’t show up! Keep trying!

  3. Man, this is tough! Details, details! And cost, cost! LOL! Which day are you speaking? Maybe I could make it out there just for the day - who knows…maybe both days - but, just drive there and back and not stay in a hotel. I keep trying to talk with hubby about it and that’s a bit like talking to a brick wall about it - not very helpful! ::shakes head::

  4. Dont yet know which day I’m speaking. Schedule hasn’t yet been firmed up, apparently. Time to get a hammer to that brick wall. :) I’ll be sure to let u know what day when I know.

  5. Ok, schedule set. Day 1. 10:15 a.m. (sigh…morning…sigh)

    :)

  6. Groovy - I’ll try to be there!! Morning’s cool - you’ll be sleepy in the afternoon, right? ;) Or are you just seriously not a morning person?

  7. One of the things I do besides SEO is Barbecue. I eat, breathe and sleep BBQ. So it stands to reason one of my websites is a bbq site at http://www.bbq-festivals.com

Why am I saying this? If you are going to Birmingham AL and you get a chance to go up to Decatur AL (north on I65) you should take time to stop in at Big Bob Gibsons BBQ. This is one of the best BBQ joints in the country and Bob Gibson is a winner of national competitions. Be sure to stop in and order some ribs or better yet a platter. You won’t regret it.

    Cheers………..eric

  8. I’m up for good bbq! I’ll check it out if I get the chance. Thanks for the tip.

  9. I am heading over there to help strengthen my seo tactics. I can’t wait to hear you speak.

  10. Well - I’ve seen a few snapshots of you giving your presentation - you look great and totally at ease! I hope someone videotaped it! And I hope you’re having a great time! :)

  11. Snapshots? Oh no. That can’t be a good thing. I am having loads of fun though. Wish you could have made it.

  12. Hi Donna,

Thanks for your presentation yesterday at Wordcamp.

I’m looking for a list of those plugins mentioned. Do you have those laying about?

    Cheers,
    Jason

  13. I’ve put the entire presentation in html format over at http://www.seo-scoop.com/seo-wordpress/ . Each slide has a text section below it, with additional information, including clickable links to anything mentioned in that slide. So that’s where you’ll find the plugin links. You can also copy/paste code from there as well.

  14. Thanks Donna!
