Joint Ventures At A Smaller Level

joint venturesThe term “joint venture” is usually associated with either large corporations or well-known Internet Marketing “gurus”. In either case, you can pretty much assume that large amounts of money is involved.

You and I aren’t mega-conglomerations. We don’t own IBM or get invited to speak at seminars costing thousands of dollars to attend. We are who we are, but that’s no reason not to consider joint ventures.

Ok, let’s back up a little and define the term “joint venture”. Generally speaking, it is when two or more people or organizations combine resources (financial or otherwise) to jointly market a new product. In the Internet marketing world, you may find two gurus combine forces to sell a new ebook or software. Because… Continue reading

Conversion Secrets for Free Downloads to Paid Customers

By Sean Cohen

Do you give web site visitors the opportunity to download a free trial of your product or service with the intention that they will come back and purchase? How are you following up with these visitors? Asking them to fill out a form and immediately giving them the download on the next page is not the best way to generate a quality opt-in list. Collecting accurate opt-in information from these visitors is essential to follow up education and making the sale.

Download giveaway opt-in conversion is extremely simple when done with the correct process. Unfortunately many businesses are leaving significant profits and subscribers on the table by using the wrong methods.

Wrong Way:

A visitor comes to your site and they fill out a form to request your free download. Upon… Continue reading

Sources of Site Traffic - Best To Worst

traffic sourcesWe all share a common goal - increasing traffic to our site or blog. Without traffic, our sites are invisible. Traffic, however, can come from many sources. Some of those sources are gold mines of highly targeted traffic consisting of visitors who are wanting to consume and interact with our content. Some sources are next to worthless and our sites would be better off without the waste of bandwidth. Below, I’ve listed what I consider to be the most common forms of traffic, rated from best to worst. Use this as a guide when promoting your site, so that you focus your energies in the right places.

  1. Organic search engine traffic - This is the granddaddy of all traffic

Make Money Online vs. Make A Living Online: What’s The Difference?

There are plenty of web sites and blogs focused on the make money online niche topic. You’ll notice that although I may use that phrase, I focus more on the idea of making a living online. What’s the difference? Why do I make a distinction at all? It’s really pretty simple. It’s all a matter of mindset.

Anyone can make money online. If you just want a little extra cash to pay for your hosting or to buy a cup of coffee, you could do with your eyes closed and your hands tied behind your back. If you make one penny online in your entire life, you’ve accomplished the goal of making money online. A person with this goal can slap an ad… Continue reading

What Sharing Your Knowledge Achieves

While reading an interview of an online acquaintance of mine, I realized that he said some things that I needed to share with all of you. Since I couldn’t have said this any better, why try.

During this interview, the interviewer, Tom Critchlow, asked Hamlet Batista this question:

Further to that - what are your goals for your blog? What would you like to achieve?

and Hamlet’s reply was:

I am a serial entrepreneur, and sharing my ideas and experiences in my blog accomplishes several positive things:

  1. I can build up authority in my domains of expertise.
  2. I can create/improve products/services based on the feedback/critiques I receive via the comments to my posts.
  3. I can gradually build a following that can potentially buy and/or recommend my products/services to others, as I have established a relationship

Intro To Membership Sites

membership siteYou’ve taken the plunge, become a blogger, and you are sharing your knowledge. In return, you are earning money from various sources such as Adsense, sponsored ads, and affiliate programs. At some point, you get an email encouraging you to become a member of some site (for a price), with the promise of getting exclusive content in return.

You stop to wonder…should I be doing that? The answer is…maybe.

Creating a membership site, or a membership area of your existing site, is certainly one way to monetize your work. It can, in fact, be extremely lucrative. Let’s look at a couple of possible scenarios.

  • Members pay a low monthly fee of $10/month. You have 200 members. You make $2000/month.
  • Members pay a

Laugh In The Face Of Low-Paying Affiliate Offers

laughingWhen you are searching for affiliate programs to join, you should read all of their terms and conditions, as lots of important information for you might be in there. However, even before reading the “do’s and dont’s” listed within all that legalese, you should pay special attention to what your cut is. Don’t blindly jump into spending your time evaluating and promoting a product that is going to pay you very very little for your time. Here’s just one example.

I received an email today from an affiliate manager wanting to know why I hadn’t yet signed up for his program. He mentioned the commission structure in this email, in which he said, “Our store pays 1% commission on all products, but with… Continue reading

Newsletters and Email Correspondence vs. The Spambox

Because I’m sick and may be out of sorts this week, I wanted to point you to a resource that might be useful to you. Although we haven’t talked about sending email newsletters to your users yet, (we will), I didn’t want you to miss out on some good information about it that is coming up shortly.

There is a free video training seminar coming up this week that I recommend attending. It is called Reaching the Inbox: How to Avoid the SPAM Folder and is being conducted on Wednesday, November 7, 2007, from 2:00 - 3:00PM Eastern Time. This is similar to a teleseminar, in that you call to listen in, but it offers one extra advantage in that you watch along via video as well… Continue reading

Affiliate Showcase Directory

I’m sick today, so I’m not able to really think, but I received an email that reminded me of an affiliate directory I had forgotten about. I first looked at the Affiliate Showcase years ago, but as time went on, I forgot about it. It’s yet another place to check for affiliate programs available in your niche. That’s it for today. Just a quick post and then I’m heading back to bed to try to get over this cold or whatever it is I have… Continue reading

Big Signs Can Send Big Confusing Messages

You have a message that you want to deliver to your users. Maybe you are trying to explain a concept, or maybe you are attempting to sell a product. You know what message you are trying to convey, but is it clear to everyone else? Shouting the message NI GIB SRETTEL (that’s “in big letters” backwards) doesn’t make a message clearer. All it does is make the message bigger. Need an example?

Yesterday, I had to take someone to the airport. I haven’t been to the airport in a couple of years, but I didn’t expect to find the drive over to be much different than before. It was pretty much the same, except for one thing. All along the road… Continue reading
