Happy Halloween, Y’all! I hope today and tonight is filled with fun and laughter as you watch the little kiddies, all decked out in their cutest little fright costumes, scamper through your neighborhoods. Enjoy!
But what else does this day mean? For me, it means the start of the holiday season. None of that Black Friday stuff for me. Waiting till the day after Thanksgiving means waiting too long! People begin Christmas shopping earlier and earlier every year. And with online shopping getting to be simply huge, now’s the time that people start ordering online. So, what does that really mean for me and you?
That means it’s time to profit from the online holiday shopping sprees. Now’s… Continue reading

We all have our likes and dislikes; our strengths and weaknesses. No matter how much each of us might love the work we do, there will always be some aspects that will be less enjoyable than others. The parts of my job that I hate the most are the ones that I consider to be tedious. I’d rather tackle something that is difficult, or requires creativity, than do something that is mindlessly easy but boring. Nevertheless, the things that I find most tedious about my work still have to get done. Without them, the difficult or creative tasks are useless.
I’m in the middle of creating a new site for my latest idea. I’ve been having fun working on the design… Continue reading

This may not work for everyone in every situation, but it could work well for some of you. Once you’ve established a loyal following of readers, and you have some kind of relationship with them, you could successfully pull off an extended “watch while I do something” exercise. What does that mean? Let me explain.
Are you overweight, or just want to get in shape? Do you want to quit smoking? If you have those are similar problems and you’d like to do something about them, you could blog about your progress as you attempt to make the changes. If you are using products to help in your quest, and those products also have affiliate programs, you could also make a little extra money while… Continue reading

Although I’ll be commenting here about personal branding from time to time, there’s a place you can get lots of information about that subject from a whole host of experts. Personal Branding Magazine publishes quarterly, and puts out some really great articles from some very fine authors. (Disclosure note: I’m one of the authors, but I was praising the others, and not myself). So, I thought it appropriate to let you know that the next issue is coming out soon (November 1st), and I think it’s going to be a really great one. Below is a graphic of the cover, but there’s lots more included in the issue than just what you see on the cover. In fact, there are 37 or 38… Continue reading

You’ve decided to sell something. Maybe it’s an ebook or a script or some other downloadable product. Maybe you wrote or programmed the product yourself. Maybe you paid for the rights to sell something someone else programmed or wrote. In any case, you have a product to sell. Now how do you take payment and deliver the goods?
The first time I sold a digital product, I signed up with Paypal, slapped a Buy Now button on my site, and emailed the product to the buyers each time Paypal notified me of a sale. That tended to cause problems, however, whenever someone bought the product in the middle of the night while I was sleeping, or worse, while I was out of town for a… Continue reading

As I’ve previously mentioned, networking with others in your topic area is extremely important for building your base of site visitors. If you haven’t already established yourself as a regular within the communities that serve your niche, you may be wondering how to find them. Here are just a few examples of searches you can run on your favorite search engine to find the communities you should participate in. Undoubtedly, these searches will turn up many, many networks of people who are all interested in your niche topic, but you’ll need to pick 2 or 3 that appeal the most to you. Look for those communities that are active and that seem to have intelligent conversations amongst experienced people.

Video is hot. Never turn your back on hot. If you can utilize video on your site or in your blog posts, you give your users the new media they crave. You don’t have to use it often, but occasionally dropping a Youtube or similar video into a blog post can really engage your visitors. If you want to use video in your blog posts, I recommend you check out 3 WordPress plugins.
Easy Video Insertion Plugin: I currently use a WordPress plugin that makes it simple for me to drop a Youtube type video into any of my blog posts. I highly recommend it if you want to include a video in any of your posts. You can… Continue reading

Below is a list of two dozen blog networks that have contact information specifically for bloggers wishing to apply to write for the network. Some of these are paid positions, while others are not. If you are looking to make money from home, getting paid by blog networks to blog for them can be one way to do so. However, even the networks that don’t pay can contribute to your business in other ways, such as enabling you to create an online presence and grow your audience. This lends considerable credibility to any other monetized ventures you undertake.
There are pros and cons to joining a blog network, and Problogger has done a great job of covering those already, so I won’t repeat… Continue reading
