One of the things all self-employed, work-from-home Internet entrepreneurs have to do at least once in a while is advertise. I don’t spend money on advertising very often, because I hate spending money, but occasionally I see an opportunity that is worthwhile.
Obviously, getting a good return on your advertising investment is something everyone wants to achieve. Once in a blue moon, however, I don’t even think about the ROI. Sometimes, an advertising opportunity is good no matter how well it ends up paying off. How is that possible?
When you purchase advertising, and all of the money is donated to charity, that’s a good return on your investment already. Never underestimate the power of good will. Donating to worthy charities is good ROI all… Continue reading

Yahoo! just unveiled Mash, its newest social networking space. Of course, you have to be invited to participate at the moment, as is the norm with these Web 2.0 beta things. Once you have a Mash profile, it appears that you then can invite unlimited amounts of people. I might be wrong on that, but I don’t see any limits, anyway. So, I’ll be happy to give invites to anyone and everyone who subscribes to my blog feed.
Of course, there’s no real way for me to know that you’ve subscribed to my blog, so I’ll just have to trust you when you say you did.
Simply tell me you subscribed by using the contact form below, and… Continue reading

Planning is a wonderful thing…until it’s not. Sometimes, good decisions turn out to be nothing more than lucky decisions. We can plan and plan and plan, and if we’re lucky, those plans bear fruit. Nevertheless, the very best plans sometimes don’t work out quite like we thought they would.
When it comes to making decisions on which money making strategies to try, I do try to match up relevant offers or products with the interests of my users. But occasionally, programs that I would have sworn would have been interesting to site visitors turn out to be duds. And sometimes, random things that I try “just because” turn out to be real winners.
Don’t be afraid to occasionally try something that you… Continue reading

Want to make more money with your blog or site? Tell a story. Engage your users with your storytelling prowess. In almost any aspect of sales, you can make a bigger impact if your “pitch” is told in an interesting and engaging way. People relate to stories, so use stories as a way of helping your readers visualize how your product will benefit them.
Let’s say you are promoting a particular digital camera in a blog post. Tell a story about how you actually used the camera to capture an incredibly funny moment. Describe the funny moment in detail, and let the reader visualize how the camera managed to capture that moment so that everyone can share in the laughter.
There are… Continue reading

Yesterday, I encouraged you to establish your Internet presence ASAP, even if you weren’t sure you were ready. However, I realized later that I should have also encouraged you to pick the right domain name first. Having a bad domain name could be difficult to overcome later.
I could go into a long diatribe about how to pick the right domain name, but others have done it before me, so instead I’m going to send you off to one that I particularly like. 14thc has a good article, called How to choose a breakthrough domain for your website, that spells it all out in simple terms. The article continues on in several parts, so be sure to read them all.
If you haven’t yet registered… Continue reading

This morning, as I was on my Internet travels, floating from one new blog to another, I found myself on a blog written by a man who lives not far from me. It’s always interesting to discover a neighbor in this vast ‘net world, so I stopped long enough to read a bit of what he had written. I noticed this little tidbit of advice and thought I would pass it along to you, with my own thoughts injected as well, of course.
Chris Hartwell, of New Orleans Internet Marketing, said:
I tell everybody I know, if you’re interested in anything, start a website on it. Let me help you with it. Just put something out there, and sooner or later, if you work on it a little bit… Continue reading

The following is a list of 10 ways to make money online, but this also includes a quick glossary of terms used when speaking about online income generation. A list of ways to make money online is useless if the terms and acronyms used have no meaning.
CPA
CPA stands for Cost Per Action. CPA programs include affiliate and referral programs which pay a commission based on specific actions taken by a user.
Examples:
- You refer a user to a company. That user purchases a product from the company. That action (the purchase of the product) earns you a commission.
- You refer a user to another company. That company is hoping to get users to fill out a form, giving them information

I don’t tend to talk a lot about SEO on this blog because that’s what my SEO blog is for. Still, since this blog focuses on making a living online, and this post is about a social network that pays you (yes, you heard that right), and this social network also has SEO benefits, I thought I’d combine it all into one here.
In case you aren’t familiar with social networks, I gave a beginner’s lesson here. If you have ever heard of MySpace or Facebook, then you’ll know the kind of social network I’ll be discussing next.
There’s a new social network on the scene called Yuwie. There are 3 main benefits to Yuwie that I see right off the bat:
- Yuwie gives back a portion
