Want to be a popular blogger?

Since this blog is fairly new and has an extremely small audience so far, you’d think maybe I need to really study up on blog tips. However, I also have another blog that is somewhat popular, so I’m not a complete noob at this whole blog business. Nevertheless, I’m no A-lister, so I’m always interested in blogging advice. A nice article called 27 +1 Tips for Building and Maintaining a Blog Audience over on SponsoredReviews caught my eye for two reasons.

  • It was something worth reviewing. I’m pretty picky about what I review, and I’m always intrigued to find something I’d like to review.
  • It was something I’m interested in, and think that at least some of my readers (few that they are) might be interested in as well.

So, here’s my review of the article.

The article divides the blogging tips up nicely into sections. First, they concentrate on the fundamentals…the things you need to consider before you ever even set up your blog.

Then they discuss building your audience. Let’s face it. With the millions of blogs out there, it’s pretty tough to get noticed. Building a blog audience can be brutal. This is where the meat of the article’s tips are, and nearly every tip listed is crucial to successfully attracting blog readers.

Finally, the article talks about keeping your readers interested and engaged, so that you don’t lose the momentum you’ve gained. This is vital to keeping a blog going.

This article really hits the most important aspects that any blogger needs to know. I wish I’d known even half of these things 3 years ago when I was first getting into blogging. If you are considering becoming a blogger, don’t reinvent the wheel. Learn what works, and use that knowledge wisely.

I’d like to add one tip to the article. Before you ever begin blogging, imagine yourself writing about your niche topic for at least the next two years. At one blog post per day, that would be over 600 posts. Is there that much to say about your topic of interest? If not, then you may want to refine your niche idea and make sure that it is something you can continue to passionately write about for some time to come.
