Despite the fact that aging sucks, and birthdays should be a drag now, I still can’t help but feel goofy and giddy because it’s my birthday today. Today, I inch just that much closer to the day when I will earn my AARP discount card! Woohoo! Ok, that’s still 3 years away, but I’m looking forward to getting old lady discounts everywhere I go. LOL. So to celebrate my birthday, I thought I’d share this funny birthday video with all of you. C’mon, sing along with it, or at least hum it, and help me celebrate my birthday. I’ll be thinking of all of you when I have my birthday lunch at my favorite Mexican restaurant today. And I’ll raise my Margarita… Continue reading

Remember the punks who messed up my mailbox a couple of weeks ago? They struck again last night. They even did this during a torrential rain storm. The kind that makes you wonder if the entire state is going to float away.
So I called the Sheriff’s department this time. I told the lady who answered that I wanted to report vandalism. She said to me, “Mailbox?”. I said yes. She then yelled loudly, “Got another mailbox!”. She next informed me that I was one of a long list of people who’d had their mailboxes vandalized, but the good news is that they’ve already arrested someone for it - a juvenile of course.
She took my name, address and phone number. Not… Continue reading

When an idea strikes, I can’t seem to say no to myself. Heck, sometimes I don’t even have an actual idea, and I still can’t control it. What am I talking about? Well, let’s take last night as an example. I was chatting with a friend of mine who was looking for a good domain name for an idea he had. So, I was running some possibilities through Godaddy to come up with a creative name for him. Along the way, I got sidetracked, and discovered a fun little domain name was available (that had nothing to do with his idea). The name itself means nothing. It’s just two short words, that when put together, evoke a funny picture in your head… Continue reading

I just finished wrapping the last present that we already have here. (Still waiting for one more to arrive - probably Friday). As always, I do 99% of my Christmas shopping online. I’m not crazy about shopping, and I’m not crazy about crowds, so Christmas shopping in stores is not something that appeals to me. I did buy a few little dollar gifts at the dollar store for my granddaughter for stocking stuffers though.
So, this last week before Christmas, I still have to get some more groceries for the big dinner. We usually get together Christmas Eve so the kids can go off to the inlaws for Christmas Day. We’ll bake a ham, slice it up, make sandwiches, and have lots of finger foods… Continue reading

Yesterday, I filled out a little form asking me for some personal information on a site that I use every day to check the TV schedule for the day. One of the questions it asked was my birthday. I’ve been using this site for months now, and the advertising I’ve been seeing has been of the general-interest sort. Today, however, the ads involve the following products:
- One of those male enhancement products
- A raised toilet seat for old folks
- A medical rehab shower chair
C’mon! Give me a break here. Ok, ok, in just a couple of weeks I’ll be 47 years old. But hey, I’m not quite ready for senior citizen products! Granted, I could probably use some pre-alzheimer memory boosting tablets, but I can still… Continue reading

I’ve been living in a rural area for about 3 months now. A couple of days ago, some punks drove by and smashed my mailbox with a baseball bat. Now, I know how teenagers are…especially bored country kids. But it’s still irritating. Found this video today and it sums up how I would have liked to deal with the redneck punks who destroyed my mailbox… Continue reading
